The Physical Geography and Climatology Group deals with theoretical and applied aspects of the physical environment and especially climatology in teaching and research.
The focus lies on climatological data-related research and modeling approaches to human interventions in climate systems, especially in connection with climate change. Many projects are interdisciplinary and designed for collaboration with planners and practice partners.
Our Physical Geography and Climatology Group operates two weater stations in Aachen-Hörn and Woffelsbach-Wildenhof at lake Rursee. The stations serve as reference stations for regional urban and terrain climate research projects at the Department of Geography and are also used in teaching.
